IIIT Bhagalpur M.Tech. Admissions 2021 GATE/non-GATE : Everything you need to know

Indian Institute of Information Technology, Bhagalpur (IIIT-BH) is one of the 25 IIITs in India. It was set up in 2017 under Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode. In 2020, the Indian Institutes of Information Technology Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2020 was introduced, officially declaring 5 IIITs and conferring the Institute of National Importance (INI) Status on them. IIIT Bhagalpur is one of them. Currently this institute is functioning in the 50 acres campus of Bhagalpur College of Engineering and it is being mentored by Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.

M.Tech. Programs Offered

IIIT Bhagalpur is offering Master of Technology (M.Tech.) program in three branches :

  • Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) with Specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS)
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) with Specialization in Signal Processing and Machine Learning (SP & ML)
  • Mechatronics Engineering (MEA) with Specialization in Electric Vehicle Technology (EV)
For all these 3 programs, the total number of seats is 20 for each program. One candidate can apply for more than one program. But before that, it is advised to check the Eligibility Criteria of the program.

Important Dates

  • Last Date of Online Application : July 5, 2021
  • Information regarding Interview call : July 12, 2021
  • Date of Interview : July 19 & 20, 2021
  • Announcement of Result : July 22, 2021

Admission Categories

Regular Admission

  • Works full time for the M.Tech. Program
  • Students having valid GATE Score are entitled to get MHRD Scholarship as per norms.

Sponsored

  • The applicant should be sponsored by a recognized Industrial, R&D Organization, Academic institution, Government organization etc.
  • The applicant must have to be employed and should possess atleast 2 years of Work Experience.
  • Applicant is not entitled to get any Scholarship in this category.

Project Staff

  • Refers to a person working as a Project Staff at IIIT Bhagalpur. (Details can be found in Brochure. Link given later in this article)

Employed & Part-time

  • The candidate must have to be professionally employed in an Organization and pursues his M.Tech. in a Part-time basis.
  • Not entitled for any Scholarship.

Eligibility

For all the Programs, the candidate must have obtained CGPA 6.0 at a scale of 10 or 60% marks or First Class in the Qualifying Degree. The Program specific criteria is given below.

Computer Science and Engineering

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering(CSE)/Information Technology/ Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)/Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) or equivalent in an appropriate area OR
  • M.Sc. (Computer Science/Information Technology) OR
  • MCA from a recognized Institution
AND A valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score in CS/EC/EE (for regular category only).

Electronics and Communication Engineering

  • Bachelor’s degree in ECE/EEE/E&I or Equivalent OR
  • M.Sc. (Electronics) OR
AND a valid GATE score in EC/IN/EE (for regular category only).

Mechatronics Engineering

Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering/Electronics and Communication Engineering/Electronics and Instrumentation or Equivalent

AND a valid GATE score in ME/EE/EC/IN (for regular category only).

NOTE : Applicants not having a Valid GATE Score can apply in Regular Category but in this case they will not be entitled for Scholarship.

For Students of CFTI

Students from IITs/NITs/IIITs/other Centrally Funded Technical Institutes can get Admission if they have a minimum of CGPA 7.0 or 70% marks in Undergraduate in relevant area. Students in this category are exempted from GATE Scores.

Application and Selection Procedure highlights

  • ALL Students have to apply through Online Application Portal.
  • Application fee is INR 500 and it is Non-Refundable.
  • After Submission of application, you need to send an email with relevant documents enclosed with it. Details can be found in Information Brochure.
  • ALL Students have to appear for an Interview.
