In general, like most of the institutes, there are two categories under which an aspirant can apply for M.Tech., GATE and Non-GATE. GATE students are screened based on their GATE score and Non-GATE candidates have to appear for TUEE. Based on their performance on TUEE, the Non-GATE candidates are shortlisted and all the shortlisted candidates from both GATE and Non-GATE category have to appear for the Personal Interview.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the last date for M.Tech. was extended till 30th June 2020 and TUEE 2020 was cancelled. All the candidates were asked to upload their marksheets of qualifying degree examination and other relevant documents by 31st July 2020. The GATE students were offered admissions based on their GATE score and Non-GATE students were selected based on Personal Interviews conducted on Google Meet.

Interview Experience

My interview took place on 7th September 2020. I received an email around 10 days before the interview asking me to send a confirmation email whether I would be sitting for the interview or not. I replied that email. Before 5 days of the scheduled interview date, I received another email asking me to fill up a Google form regarding my Name, Phone no, Email id etc. (I didn't understand after filling out the form why did they ask for those again). I filled out the form and responded. One day before the interview, I received the meeting link. They told one of them will be calling me just before the interview asking me to click the link and join room.

The slot of my interview was 9:30 am. Along with me, there were total 18 students whose interviews were scheduled in the same slot. Around 11:30 am, I received a call asking me to join the room. My interview started with the question, "Where do you live ?", which I answered. I was asked to give a small introduction about myself. I mentioned my latest CGPA, Internship Project, Final Year Project, Pre-final year Mini Project and the conference paper I published.

Before diving into subject questions, one of them asked me if I have applied for anywhere else or not. I replied frankly. This was followed by another common question, why I want to do M.Tech. I responded mentioning that I want to pursue research in the field of Computer Science and the company I got placed didn't promise me a challenging or research kind of job. Somehow it seemed they agreed with my answer. After this, core questions were asked.

I was asked questions from Cryptography at the beginning. Probably they asked from the domain I have done my projects on. They asked me to tell about Public key cryptography and various other types of cryptography. After this, the entire interview was on C language. I was asked questions from Macro, Preprocessor and its use, array, pointers etc. After that, they asked me to leave the meeting room. The entire interview was of around 15 minutes.

Conclusion

The results were published on 26th September 2020 and I not only got selected but I was at #1 rank ! I was asked to login to my account and check the status. The further process included signing and submitting an undertaking, followed by registration in counselling process.

Thank you for reading it. Please leave your comments below and all the best. Have a great day !
